This role plays a critical role in managing and maintaining positive labor relations between an organization and its unionized workforce. This position requires a deep understanding of labor laws, contract negotiation, conflict resolution, and employee relations.


Labor Relations Union Specialist- Remote


The Labor Relations Union Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining effective labor relations within the organization, ensuring compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, and fostering a positive working environment. This role involves working closely with union representatives, management, and employees to address labor-related issues and contribute to a harmonious workplace. Client is offering full benefits = Medical, Vision, Dental, Pension , PTO – Remote


Key Responsibilities:



  • Collective Bargaining: Participate in the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). Collaborate with union representatives to reach mutually beneficial agreements on wages, benefits, working conditions, and other terms and conditions of employment.


  • Contract Interpretation: Interpret and communicate the terms and provisions of CBAs to both management and union members. Ensure that both parties understand and adhere to the contractual obligations.


  • Grievance Handling: Manage the grievance process by investigating complaints, resolving disputes, and representing the organization in arbitration proceedings, if necessary.


  • Labor Law Compliance: Stay up-to-date on labor laws, regulations, and legal requirements, ensuring the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.


  • Employee Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with union leadership and members, addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication between the union and management.


  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes and conflicts between employees and management, working to find mutually acceptable resolutions.


  • Labor-Management Committee: Facilitate labor-management committees or councils to discuss workplace issues, safety, and productivity improvements.


  • Training and Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees and managers on labor relations topics, including contract awareness, labor law compliance, and conflict resolution.


  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of labor relations activities, including grievance documentation, negotiation notes, and correspondence.


  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with HR and senior management to develop and implement labor relations strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in labor relations, human resources, industrial relations, JD preferred . A master's degree or relevant certifications can be advantageous.


  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, and labor relations practices within the utilities industry.


  • Previous 7 years’ experience in labor relations, including negotiation and grievance resolution.


  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.


  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive labor-related matters.


  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) software.


  • Travel

Pay Details: $88,000.00 to $113,000.00 PER YEAR
