Director of Engineering

Introduction
As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the successful implementation of engineering standards, processes, metrics, and strategies to support the organization’s rapid growth and development. Building strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders will be essential to your success. You will also lead and provide direction to the engineering team in Western Canada.
Responsibilities
- Project Evaluation & Prioritization: Develop and implement a structured process for evaluating and prioritizing engineering projects to align with organizational objectives.
- Thought Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Exhibit a strong passion for thought leadership, continuously seeking and promoting innovative improvement ideas.
- Engineering Standards & Processes: Establish and implement engineering standards and processes to ensure the successful execution of all related initiatives.
- Capital Project Management: Design and implement methods and procedures to manage capital projects effectively, from initial concept to final completion.
- Stakeholder Communication: Develop processes and procedures to ensure clear and consistent communication of project updates to senior management and the leadership team.
- Resource Identification: Identify and allocate necessary resources to support in-house engineering capabilities.
Requirements
- Engineering degree; P.Eng / regional accreditation.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience managing capital projects.
- At least 10 years in a management role.
- Experience in food processing, particularly with animal products, or in manufacturing.
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and expertise in root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with various regulatory environments (e.g., environmental, sanitation).
- Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Proven experience in managing teams and driving performance to achieve desired results.
